Hello,

I would like to know if there are benchmarks concerning the pdf generation. In my project I have to generate a pdf from a table with 10000 lines and 10 columns. I am afraid that the pdf generation could freeze the client computer.

thanks in advance

hello mark,
I'm a flex beginner and i'm trying to do exactly what you did in this example.
But I dont really understand how it works and where to put this code.

And I wonder how (in your before/after screenshot) you can have different witdh in the tile list items for your left and right colums

So if it's not a problem for you, can you send me your source code or explain me if it's not taking you too much time.

Thanks (and sorry for my poor english) :))

I've found the same issue with lineTo when drawing two lines of different colour on the same shape:

the lineStyle can get transposed between the two different lines, despite resetting them during the drawing code as above.

oddly enough if you change the order of the lineStyle and moveTo it often helps (i.e. linestyle after moveTo). Adding the lines to different shapes solves the problem but presumably creates extra overhead which (probably?) slows down the application

Great post, Thanks Marc.
I had a problem with TileList where the highlight border around the selected item becomes very wide If I make the application window full-screen (<a href="http://mariosh.com/codes/customizing-tilelist-selection/" rel="nofollow">example</a>). Your example solved my problem.
I made also more advanced example (nice blue gradient fill) <a href="http://mariosh.com/examples/vista-start-menu/" rel="nofollow">Vista Start Menu</a>.

They've got a great calculator for costs.

http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/calc5.html

The biggest cost for doing hosting this way at first is the 720 (24 hours x 30 days) hours of compute time. On a small instance it's $0.10 an hour, so $72 is really the minimum you can spend for full time hosting.

For a smallish site, you're looking at less than $20 for bandwidth, storage, etc.

I was paying about $110 for a dedicated server + FTP backup space. Now it'll be about $100 including some backups on S3.
