Ben Forta addressed the Catalyst workflow issue at presentation he gave at last night's NYCFUG. He acknowledged that there is a lot of work for Adobe to do in the workflow, and that for version 1 they are only trying to handle a designer's export. Their immediate vision is that a designer will work on their design, marking up layers as components, and when the designer is finished they do a one-time export. The developer never touches Catalyst. Version 2 could bring lots of changes to the workflow.
